ARC Ibérica is the Spanish subsidiary of ARC International, the world's leading supplier of high-quality tableware with such well-known brands as Cristal d’Arques Paris and Pyrex, Arcoroc and Chef & Sommelier.
The group was looking for a new Spanish head office and warehousing facility for ARC Ibérica to replace its current site in Malpica business park, Zaragossa. It had decided to migrate the whole of its Spanish office, distribution centre and 300 warehouse staff in Zaragossa to a more modern logistics platform.
ARC International’s policies demanded the new centre should incorporate the latest advances in logistics real estate while building in cutting-edge technology in an environmentally friendly way.
Prologis delivered a 48,000 sqm build-to-suit building to ARC Ibérica in Prologis Park, Zaragossa. The facility has designed in an energy efficiency system that keeps ARC Ibérica's power consumption to a minimum. The company has a logistics space in Villanueva de Gállego, a distribution centre half-way between Madrid and Barcelona with access to the A-2 motorway, Spain's main east-west highway, which meets their needs.
This building emits only half the CO2 of a typical logistics building and cuts energy operating costs by more than 73%. It maximises its use of different resources to create a fully sustainable space. Features include collection of rainwater for reuse in bathrooms and for watering greenery, 100 kilovolts of PV solar panels on the roof supplying 10% of the building's energy needs, plentiful natural light from skylights which helps halve the need for artificial lighting as part of an energy-efficient lighting system.
