Madrid, the capital of Spain, has an urban population of 3.3 million, with 6.5 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area. It is the third largest city in Europe and represents approximately 20 percent of Spain's GDP.

Many of the large Spanish companies, such as Telefónica and Iberia Líneas Aéreas de España, are headquartered in Madrid. Most of Madrid's economy comes from services, which represent 85% of its GDP.

The capital is a strategic center for international, national and regional logistics, with high commercial and consumer demand. Barajas Airport is one of the ten largest European freight centers, with a traffic of 340,000 tons in 2015. In 2015 the longest railway line in the world and the first direct link between China and Spain was inaugurated, which shows the potential for a new Silk Road.

Prologis manages the exploitation of buildings and industrial buildings in Madrid.
