In April 2018, Prologis Spain celebrated the opening of its first building, a 21,000 square meter logistics facility, at Prologis Park San Fernando. In designing this park, we followed three core conceptual guidelines: flexibility, efficiency and sustainability. As a result, the park is considered a model for the next generation of logistics real estate and distribution in Spain and is ideal for companies seeking the greatest efficiency and flexibility in logistics.
The building was developed to the highest quality standards and technical capabilities. The minimum warehouse height of 11 meters allows for approximately 15 percent more storage compared to a conventional building. The configuration of the park is flexible, allowing us to tailor the dimensions of warehouses to meet customers’ needs, whether for conventional logistics operations or cross docking activities. All warehouses will be equipped with monitored energy-saving systems, enabling users to manage energy use and optimize operating costs.
This facility is completely digital and was designed and operates with business information modeling technology. The building also has an interface that permits users to monitor energy consumption, manage maintenance deadlines and detect operational malfunctions via an iPad or mobile device. This same system also stores building information, such as technical documents, building measurements and blueprints, so that customers can access their material from anywhere.
The building earned BREEAM "Very Good" accreditation. LED lighting is included in the sustainable design features, which reduces electricity consumption by up to 40 percent.
Prologis Park San Fernando is designed to ensure maximum operational efficiency as well as tenant safety. The compound is completely enclosed and monitored with 24-hour surveillance. Prologis added amenities to the park to boost employee well-being and productivity, such as parking spots, fitness centers, sports facilities and changing rooms.
